Some Groups have already started  actively working on their projects. Watch this space!

BICYCLE THIEVES
From: "nigel.wood2"
Subject: Bicycle Thieves in Operation in the Langar Area
Date: Tue, 30 Dec 2008 12:19:38 -0000
Dear All,
I need to make you aware of a group of cycle thieves operating in the area.
Yesterday, between 1.30 and 5.00 in the afternoon, they forced entry into my garage and stole 3 mountain bikes.
Ironically, the likely culprits were stopped by the police near Gunthorpe and it would appear that bikes similar to mine were on board but, as I had not discovered the break in by this time and reported it, the police let them go as there was no reason to detain them.
They were in a blue Volkswagen van. They are known to the police as bike thieves and have a history of violence so are best not tackled.

UPDATE!
Subject: Great Result by the Police - Three Arrests and 1 Bike Recovered.
Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2009 14:07:02 -0000
Dear All,
To update you on our recent break-in, the police have arrested 3 individuals following the execution of various search warrants. Amongst the items recovered was one of our mountain bikes.
A great result all round.
Nigel.
Community Speed Watch Now Operating
The CSW team members have now been trained and monitoring is now up and running in the two villages.
The first 1 hour session on Wednesday 14th May 2008 was successful in identifying over 30 drivers who exceeded the 30 and 40 miles per hour speed limits within the parish. The registration numbers will be passed to the Police who will write to the owners regarding the offences. More important was the substantial number of drivers who, on sight of the speed monitor, reduced their speed sufficiently to take them within the speed limit.

The CSW will continue to monitor randomly. If you would like to get involved please contact the Parish clerk who will pass your details on to the co-ordinator.
